Haunted Mansion Plant List

Being the avid gardener that I am, I'm seriously fond of this post. Again, not a collectible, but rather some invaluable info worth sharing. A couple of years ago, a good friend of mine, Ghost Relations Dept, suggested that I ask to see the plant list for the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland. I didn't think that the CM's would be so accommodating, but not only did I get to see the list, they made me copies! I tried to keep them from getting so crumpled while running around the park. As you can see, I wasn't very successful. But, if you have a green thumb, or just love the landscaping at the Haunted Mansion, this is an interesting document to check out! Did you catch the mention of the Blood Family and the Pirate Bride as part of the original back story to the mansion? Great stuff!

I have black mondo grass and weeping juniper in my garden. They are pretty spooky!

If I may add they also use Sweet Potato Vine which come in different varieties: green, blackie, and bronze. Also if you have a lot of sun don't use coleus use Magilla Perilla which is an excellent substitute or if the nursery has it "sun coleus." Unfortunately the mansion uses a lot of shade plants due to the massive trees they have.

Thank you so much for this fabulous post! I had no idea this kind of info was available. I've been trying to approximate a Haunted Mansion/New Orleans Square garden, and I've been guessing at plants...this is perfect. So far I've gotten black mondo grass and lamb's ear...this will help me with much more!

Thanks anon for the tip about the magilla as a sun substitute. My new property has a few more sunny beds.

Glad this post was so helpful.

Thanks, glad I could give my input about the perilla. I have some more to add:

Purple Shamrock
Purple Heart
Purple Knight

Possibly not featured at the mansion but could also work:

The Happy Single Dahlia Juliet
Elephant Ear Black Magic
Brunnera Jack Frost
Begonia Benitochiba
Heuchera Black Beauty
Dappled Willow
Black Pearl Ornamental Pepper
